The proposal is based on the concept of integrating functions that traditionally are perceived as either urban or rural. The goal is to create a new, in the sense rich, integrated and inclusive, urbanity - a Low cost, High density Garden city for the urban poor.

The new neighborhood holds a mixture of spaces suited for domestic-, public-, commercial-, cultural- and farming activities. Our scheme for “Duncan garden city” thrives to deliver a physical structure, giving potential for an activated public space. In “Duncan garden city” the dwellers have excess both to the garden and to the street from their apartments. By connecting indoor space with outdoor space in at least two directions the small apartment gain in “size” and quality.
